The 2026 U.S. Mid-Amateur at Sand Valley
The 45th U.S. Mid-Amateur runs September 26 through October 1, 2026, at Sand Valley Resort in Nekoosa. The championship course is The Lido, a re-creation of C.B. Macdonald’s lost Long Island design, and the original Sand Valley Course co-hosts stroke-play qualifying. The field of 264 amateurs age 25 and older plays two stroke-play rounds before match play.
Transportation for Mid-Am week:
- Players flying in: O’Hare, MKE or Madison pickups with golf bags, straight to Sand Valley or a nearby hotel.
- Families and supporters: SUVs or Sprinters from Milwaukee, Madison or Chicago for match-play days.
- Clubs and sponsors: hourly or multi-day service for groups following a player.
- After elimination or the final: a direct ride back to the airport, with flight tracking.
Sand Valley is a long drive from the major airports, so book early and plan an arrival day before your first tee time.
Erin Hills
Erin Hills, host of the 2017 U.S. Open and the 2025 U.S. Women’s Open, sits in rolling countryside northwest of Milwaukee, about 45 minutes to an hour from downtown and roughly two hours from O’Hare. It’s a natural day trip from Milwaukee hotels or a short ride from MKE.
- Day trip from Milwaukee: morning pickup, the chauffeur returns at your finish time, dinner stop on the way back.
- From O’Hare: a direct ride to Erin Hills or your lodging, with room for bags. See Milwaukee to O’Hare car service for the Chicago corridor.
- 2027 U.S. Amateur Four-Ball: with Blue Mound in Wauwatosa co-hosting stroke play, many players and families will move between Erin Hills and Wauwatosa. A Milwaukee-based chauffeur keeps both on one schedule.
Whistling Straits and Blackwolf Run (Kohler)
Whistling Straits, site of three PGA Championships and the 2021 Ryder Cup, and Blackwolf Run are about an hour north of Milwaukee along Lake Michigan. Golf groups often stay in Kohler and play several rounds across a long weekend.
- From MKE: about an hour’s drive; ideal for weekend golf trips.
- From O’Hare: about two and a quarter hours; book an SUV or Sprinter for groups with bags.
- Multi-day trips: daily transfers between your hotel, the courses and dinner in Kohler or Sheboygan. See Sheboygan limo service.
- 2028 U.S. Amateur: expect heavy demand; plan transportation well in advance.
Sand Valley and Central Wisconsin
Sand Valley has four 18-hole championship courses plus a par-3 course, and it’s a destination golfers plan entire trips around. It’s also the farthest from Milwaukee and Chicago, which is exactly why private transportation makes sense: no one in the group has to drive three or four hours after a long day on the course.
- From Milwaukee: about 2 hours 45 minutes to 3 hours.
- From Madison: about 1 hour 45 minutes. See Madison limo service.
- From O’Hare: about 4 hours; a Sprinter with Wi-Fi and room to stretch makes the drive easier.
- Nearby: SentryWorld in Stevens Point, host of the 2028 U.S. Senior Women’s Open and the 2034 U.S. Senior Open, is about 45 miles away.
Choosing a Vehicle for Golfers
| Group | Golf bags | Best vehicle |
|---|---|---|
| 1–2 golfers | 2 bags plus luggage | Luxury SUV (a sedan trunk rarely fits two bags and suitcases) |
| 3–4 golfers | 4 bags plus luggage | Luxury SUV for light luggage; Sprinter for a full trip’s luggage |
| 5–8 golfers | Up to 8 bags | Executive Sprinter or Transit van |
| Up to 15 golfers | Group bags | Executive Sprinter; add a second vehicle when every golfer brings a travel bag and suitcase |
Always tell us the number of golf bags and suitcases when you book. Travel bags and hard cases take more space than people expect. See the fleet, Sprinter limo service and luxury SUVs.

Golf Trip Planning Tips
- Book transportation when you book tee times, especially for championship weeks.
- Allow buffer time for check-in, warm-up and the range.
- Check course rules for arrival, bag drop and spectator access.
- Plan for weather: Wisconsin’s golf season runs roughly spring through fall, and late-season mornings can be cool.
- Share every flight number for group arrivals so we can time the pickup.
- Coming from Chicago? Our Milwaukee to O’Hare division runs the Chicago corridor daily with the same dispatch team.
